The following post is a guest post from the talented, Manik Ghawri, the co-founder of Vowelor. Vowelor is a global online platform to share Books, showcase your stories, discuss live on books, meet fellow writers & readers and much more.

Being a writer is not an easy thing. You have to satisfy the expectations of your readers and feed them with the best story, and if you fail to deliver the best out of you, then you end up tasting the criticism. While reading through your favorite book, at least once, all of us have thought, “How do these writers get such good ideas for their book”. Guess what? I’ve got the answer for you. But, before that, let me give you a reality check.

There are 34 million books in print, worldwide. If we cut out the number of authors in proportion to the books in print, then we may end up getting a million authors in today’s date struggling to get the ONE GOLDEN CHANCE to prove themselves in the field of writing.

In this article, I am going to give you a Step-by-step guide for getting ideas to write a good book which increases the success ratio of your book.

Don’t write, if you don’t believe

If you are writing just to become a best-selling Author, then take my advice, don’t write. I don’t mean that you shouldn’t dream of becoming a best-selling Author, but if it is your only dream then stop. Always focus on a good Story. And when you write only what you believe in, your story will automatically become a great Story.

Good ideas for books are always around you

Yes, good ideas are always around us. All you have to do is to OBSERVE, observe whatever is happening around you. Dig for your Stories. Observe the details and weave your story. It will make your story relatable. Authors have revealed that when they write about real and relatable stories, readers always love it. Keep in mind, people love to read what sounds real.

Travel to the places where you find peace

There is a rule that I always believe in. If you cannot help yourself let other to help you out, all you need to do is to trust. A good thing about traveling is you get to meet new people, enjoy the change of being a part of new surroundings. Try to dig out yourself in the strange environment. Because in between the strangers, sometimes you meet yourself.

To be a writer, you have to be a reader first

If you are not a reader yet, go find your first read. It’s all about giving yourself the chance to roam around your imagination.

“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things – read a lot and write a lot”

  • Stephen King

Believe it or not reading good books is going to lead you to your own good story.

Write about your life experiences

Trust me, people love to read about each other, we humans are designed in a way that we always ready to get socialized either it is a small party or a big well-planned marriage ceremony. Our eyes are always in a hurry to capture new faces, and that is what makes us a living species. If you have any experience from your real life that you think is worth sharing; Go for it, don’t wait. You cannot explain a better idea of a good story than that of yours. Get ready to share your thoughts with the people and give them a chance to be a part of your life.

Make your dreams in reality

Just wonder, what if you were the president of the country? What if you were teleported to an alien world? Give a spark to your perspective, show the world your way, and put yourself in different roles. Do it regularly & you won’t be far away from getting a good idea to write a book about.

Get good sleep

Neil Gaiman has said “Writing is flying in dreams”, I totally agree with it. And the vice-versa is also true. Dreams are what your subconscious mind notices during the day and create random stories. All you have to do is just catch up on these fantasies and shape them into a great story.

Now that you have read all the hacks to get the numerous ideas for a book. All you need to do is refill your pen and get a diary & start running your hands.

I’ve dreamed of being a writer before, because I love to read, and I love the connection I feel to the author/story whenever I read. Also, tip #1 is helpful to anything you plan to start. If you plan to start a blog/vlog for the money and fame, then I don’t think it’ll work out either.

Thanks for your awesome post, love!
